Charles “Chuck” Munson is a visual artist living in Kansas City, Missouri. He is a graduate of the University of Kansas, with a BFA in Painting and Sculpture. He primarily likes to work in watercolor, pen & ink, mixed media, pencil and photography. Charles also runs Bread and Roses Creative, where he is a full stack web developer and designer. Artist's Statement
My current work features favorite subjects like birds, flowers, urban streetscapes, and rural landscapes. I am a lifelong birder. My works explore the beauty of the natural world, the built environment, and culture.
While I have been a creative person most of my life, which includes being a web designer for decades (Bread and Roses Creative), I recently made a full time switch to visual arts. I am also a writer and food critic for Chuck Eats KC (started in 2019) and a games streamer on Twitch (PrairiePirateYo). I am originally from the Kansas City area but have also lived in Wisconsin and the D.C. area. I got a BFA from the University of Kansas in the late 1980s, but only returned to making visual art full time in late 2023. Rediscovering watercolors has been a fun journey. I love the medium for how it captures light, the range of colors, and it’s ability to convey realism or other moods.
